Few days ago, my friend ask for my help to re-install her brand new laptop with Windows XP. The pre install Windows Vista just make her work less productive and decide to downgrade the lappy.

At first I thought it just a normal installation; format, install OS and install driver. But when I just start to install XP, the process told me that no hard drive detected. Without hesitate, I create the SATA driver on a floppy disk. Restart the installation, hit F6 (to install 3rd party HD driver). The next step is, I should insert the floppy disk into the floppy drive. But I forgot, the latest produced PC and laptop usually not bundle with floppy drive (my bad).

Hurrmm…   …

After some research, I try to copy the HD driver into a thumbdrive. But it was ended with no success. My last resort was, create a slipstream Windows XP installer CD with software named nLite . With this software, I integrate the SATA HD driver into the XP installation CD and make the installation process ‘recognize’ SATA HD.

If you like to create a slipstream CD manually, without using nLite, the listed below link you might find useful.
